Wow, thank you for releasing the parents statement. What Thistoll and Farrier are doing is sickening. .

I am so sorry for your loss. And I despise the ongoing cruelty you’ve had to endure since the publication of the story of Vanessa’s tragic death in the care of the state. You are very brave people, who deserve our utmost sympathy for the loss of your beloved daughter to a disease that has the highest mortality of all mental health disorders. I hope you can both find peace.

Farrier and Thistoll are so blinded by their cruel ideology they can't see that an overwhelming majority of NZers will completely sympathise with the plight of the parents.

The trans zealots are furiously digging their own graves, but they are too dumb to realise it. If you want to attack anyone for what you and a few of your fellow ideological travellers see as doctrinal error, whatever you do, don't make your target grieving parents of a child who died alone of starvation in a motel room.

The very fact that we have people challenging the grief of these parents makes me wonder if our society has any decent left.

There is decency, honesty, humility, and thoughtfulness left - I just don’t go looking for it direction Farrier, Thistoll, and ilk.

I should have written decency. A functional society shuns the equivalents of Farrier, Thistoll and sends them to hell or Connaught.

That Farrier and Thistoll would use this tragedy to advocate for trans rights while simultaneously flagellating the parents is cruel and disgusting in the extreme. They should hang their heads in shame, but in their arrogance, of course they won't.

I really feel for this family and deeply admire their strength and bravery in sharing this story and then standing up against the misrepresentation and weaponisation of their tragedy. I hadn’t appreciated how trans ideology could be used as a weapon and a shield by young anorexics to avoid help. This story should be a cold slap in the face to teachers and state workers who quickly “affirm” without looking deeper, and a wake up call to the public generally about the cost of the persistent state encroachment on parental concern and care.

How desperate Vanessa's parents must feel, they should never ever have had to write such a letter in defence of themselves, they have done nothing that requires defending. The Government has to listen to and support parents, not sideline them with a 'we know best' attitude, this is a cruel system that is swayed by those with an agenda and no personal connection to the child at risk. Vanessa's parents did everything any loving parent would do to save their child. It is the State and those with perverted mindsets that harmed Vanessa. Vanessa's parents were desperate but got no support, they are now devastated and heartbroken and Farrier and Thistoll have no morals at all that they dare to steal Vanessa's memory and violate it for their own perverted ends. It is sickening. I hope one day Vanessa's parents can join with other parents in similar situations and form a group that lobbies government to make the changes to support and include and listen to parents rather than dismiss them. Nobody can love a child more than his or her parents.

Did these two people ever ask to interview the parents, or are they just making stuff up from what they have heard and read what others have said? A very sad time for the parents, and I wish you all the best.

Yes, parenting is very difficult and more so when someone in the spectrum is involved. I have experience in this area, one should only feel sorrow for the poor parents, they are left with an indelible mark in their souls for as long as they live.

My heart goes out to you for the devastating death of your daughter. I cannot imagine the pain you must have endured during her life and more now at the hands of two men who cannot possibly know the whole story. I hope you can find peace sometime.

It is high time that government and bureaucrats saw the error of their ways and removed themselves from proxy parenthood. There are no doubt occasions when parents need more support than they can give their children, and government agencies are helpful. But it is not up to government departments nor schools to intervene between parent and child, and pretend they know better how to treat children than the legitimate parents of those children. This sort of cruelty, and it is obvious from this story that it is State cruelty, has to stop. My sympathy and gratitude go to Vanessa's parents, in their grief and bravery.

So much for the Inquiry into Abuse in State Care. The stupid gender cult can’t see what’s under their own noses, because it’s in a new guise, and they can’t see they are the abusers now.

As for Thistoll & Julia de Bres, it’s in the public domain, in a fundraiser Thistoll put online himself, that his son has osteogenesis imperfecta (brittle bones). They are transing that kid and they either put him on blockers against medical advice that this impacts bone density - bone density of a child with an existing bone condition - or let him go through puberty and have less chance of “passing”. So of course they are highly highly invested in forcing society to look the other way at the management of trans-identified kids - just give them over to the gender cult - and also to force us all to pretend “trans” is real.

Ani, thanks for publishing this. I expected the Farrier/Thistoll reaction, which is basically ‘we told you what would happen if you don’t uncritically endorse all delusion.’ I’m not often wholly condemnatory but this time I am - coopting Vanessa’s tragedy to serve a self-righteous ideological end is heartbreakingly cruel as well as factually wrong. If I believed in a hell the activists could rot in it. Heartfelt condolences to Vanessa’s brave parents. This was not your fault.

I'm hoping Fisher will be given the rope to hang himself.

Persecuting parents who have lost a child to starvation (and callous authorities) is so counter-productive to the trans cause I'm staggered no one warned Farrier and Thistoll to back off while they still could.
