Well said Ani, as I have said before there is a wide difference between education and indoctrination.
I am concerned that our education system is creating a generation of state dependant morons, who seem to expect to be fed and housed by the ever dwindling pool of net taxpayers.
As always a great article, please keep up the good work.
Some of those arrogant disrupters were a great advert for why we should never lower the voting age (did I hear that one right; 16-year-olds use the infrastructure, so we should have a say...)?
Unfortunately, one of the disadvantages of MMP is that we could get some of the worst ones as politicians, because they don't have to "front" in an electorate to get elected....
Oh bravo Ani. Again you are so spot on with your analysis. (Many of) These entitled little prats have simply no idea about the 'real world' and as indoctrinated wokesters, they believe they have the right to snipe at the establishment that affords them their quality of life. The rise of socialism is explained by Konstantin Kisin (https://www.konstantinkisin.com/p/the-real-reason-socialism-is-on-the) but whilst he makes many good points, he is not quite right. Yes, they are unhappy that they can't afford houses (rampant immigration & excessive red tape has done that to them), but it is their reluctance to 'do the mahi' that really explains them. Delayed gratification is anathema to their dopamine dependent social media minds. And sadly, whereas our generation had to respect our elders (because they were our only source of knowledge), these clowns have immediate access via Google & AI to all the information they need. Of course information is not knowledge, nor wisdom which is why we see such egregious ignorance as college/uni anti-Israel demonstrations. As Robin Williams put it in Good Will Hunting, until they really know what it smells like in the Sistine Chapel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEIQSbul9Os), they won't have a royal fucking clue. Time to wipe those smug smiles off your face kiddies and show some respect to those who came before you and did a pretty damn good job setting you up for life.
Great stuff Ani. At high school in the early sixties I imagine I might have been chosen for the Youth Parliament had it existed and had I applied. I was academic, good at debating and dux and was considered mature for my age . . . but my politics were pretty much patterned on my parents and a large part of my concerns were my weight and whether my current crush was reciprocated. Looking back I might well have thought I was fully capable and responsible enough to vote, but with hindsight, no way.
Thanks for that Ani, what an eyeopener. The attempt to silence other points of view was most enlightening as the tattooed, cowboy hatted and bereted ones tried to shuffle into the camera view. Disappointing that such immaturity shows. I don't think the vote should be 18 either. For a long time it was 21 but as the human brain is not fully mature until 25 I would suggest that may be a better age. I teach teenagers and their brains are all over the place as they rearrange and rewire to become adult. The thought of 16 year olds voting makes me shudder. Just confirmed for me that my move away from support for Labour and the Greens will continue into the next election. Sad really as most political parties tend to have some good policies.
The establishment is woke Left, all other views are low-status coded. Entitlement and the pursuit of status fuel the woke Left to ever more extreme and histrionic displays.
Under capitalism, man exploits man, under socialism is the other way around. These multiparty aspiring MP's have been fed with the same milk so, even under different banners they have the same collective consciousness, they resist authority of those whom they are supposed to serve.

These kids are just proving the fact that the brain (prefrontal cortex) isn't fully developed until about age 25. Well said Ani!
Interesting, thanks Ani

Seems they have based their confrontational style and attitudes on Green Party and Te Pati Maori characters.
Some of them might grow up to out-Chloe Chloe Swarbrick!
Another thoughtful yet entertaining piece. Thanks Ani
