In my view the noose waving should have resulted in Rawiri Waititi, being thrown out of parliament for life. He is an absolute disgrace and should be seen as an embarrassment to all New Zealanders, irrespective of their ancestry or ethnicity.
Re BVV on Health & Safety: Despite massive regulatory expansion, professional development, and compliance costs since 2015, New Zealand's workplace safety performance has remained static and continues to lag international peers. The stakeholder coalition defending the current system appears to be protecting institutional interests rather than acknowledging empirical failure. Van Velden's reforms, while politically controversial, appear justified by the data on poor outcomes and high costs. 'Release the handbrake on productivity'
Good roundup, and good read. One question - when Hu made that comment about indigenous people making their own laws about immigration, did she mean native people to a country, or those born there?
Good question. Also at what point do people stop being considered settlers and start being considered indigenous? Or are we now going to be building a two tier society where someone with a teaspoon of "indigenous" blood now assumes a higher status than those who were born in the country from families who have been there for 100s of years?
Oh well we know what Te Pati Maori's next attention seeking gambit is. Whaddya know, a road trip, no doubt at the taxpayers expense to add grist to the poor me whine. As for Hu, if she meant the indigenous people then I guess she'll need to pack her bags and leave for China along with the rest of the unwelcome immigrants. Its time for people like her to show some respect and gratitude to the nations who allow them residence.
Very pithy "The Opposition do not want to talk about it because it is something they wish they had done. The media don’t want to talk about it because it is something they wish Labour had done".
Wonder how many voters really care about the antics in Parliament. I hoped they'd reach a compromise on Privileges C'ttee stuff, but it became very party-political. There are voters who fervently support TPM and think they've been dealt a terrible injustice, and others of the ilk who favour The Platform, Mike Hosking, Muriel Newman's outfit, etc, who carry on about da nasty Maori wanting to ruin the country. But are most voters going to be swayed by any of this? It's pretty much performative.
They’re not so much ‘nasty’ as dumb. And what they want will & is ruining the country. You and I give a lot of money (via tax) to these separatist clowns & their indoctrinated whanau. That’s all money no longer available for health care for all kiwis etc
ps Newman is great. The Platform a breath of fresh air. Hosking sadly is too caught up in himself. Heather DP Allen too drama queeny. Ryan Bridge I do like tho… 😃😃
