Hard to know where to start. Political sacred cows being covered for by a compliant media. Unaddressed bullying, intimidation and nepotism.

The story holds all the issues that we have suspected are part of the NZ system. But the biggest problem of all is our MSM are so embedded in their ideological capture, they will not throw light on their so called ideological buddies. Disturbing to have ones fears so reinforced in this story.

So well written. In my view Hipkins would never dare reproach Jackson, he owes his position to the Maori caucus and they have him on a string. The MSM are so compromised that nobody of any intelligence pays them any attention any longer. I cannot understand why this government has not removed all taxpayer funding from them by now and put TVNZ and RNZ up for sale. The apparent lack of accountability of several Maori Health Trusts has been brought into sharp focus lately, yet not a word from the PM or his Health Minister on these developments which have shaken public confidence. Where the bloody hell are they?

Well done Ani, this highlights why many of us have turned away from the MSM and now look for our news elsewhere.

I believe that whenever Maori are involved in any wrongdoing, exposing their behaviour inevitably creates screams of "racist". The sad fact that Maori have a disproportionate share of violent crimes, and infanticide in particular, is always swept under the carpet. Perhaps if these statistics were highlighted a solution could be found?

Seymour had a solution Bill which should have led to anyone culturally Maori (cos this ain’t about skin colour or DNA) being held to the SAME standards as everyone else. But sadly his coalition partners are just all talk and no trousers.

Agreed Boris. I really did expect the current Govt to put on their big boy trousers, since they received a clear mandate to do so…we are all the poorer as this BS grinds on.

I used to read the newspapers, listen to RNZ and watch TV news. No longer. They are blatantly and constantly hard left biased. I can't believe how cosy they are with Labour and it's even crazier allies, even though the left gave them huge bribes and their ideologies align. This story is a major scandal yet is not mentioned - that's corruption of the 4th estate.

Harry Young's avatar

It's also a betrayal of the moderate left, the traditional Labour voter.

Good on you Ani.

A voice in the wilderness.

Great work.

Please don't push off to Australia.

I’ve long thought the mainstream media are a bunch of dinosaurs blocking the development of truly independent journalism.

The lack of trust in MSM is why platforms such as Substack are thriving.

But it is very disturbing that the MSM regard Maori as untouchable by journalists. They have a similar proven track record of refusing to cover adverse Green Party developments, such as the case of former MP Benjamin “bussy” Doyle.

Just now checking the facts showed me how the MSM cravenly kowtowed to Doyle’s claim to be “non-binary.” It is obvious to all he’s a man and journalists should stick to facts, not indulge fantasies.

Complete hypocrisy. WJ and JT certainly confirm the old theory about power corrupting people. It's like a Monty Python skit..."But just you hang on a minute, I thought you said you're a tireless campaigner for workers rights sir?" "That's right. But now I only work for myself. You see how it all makes sense from my point of view?" Exits stage left. 😉

The man who brought in the law allowing workplace access for worker representation now trespassing a worker representative seeking workplace access to initiate representation is truly oxymoronic.

very good Cameron. I was going to make the point about the parallels with JT, and how WJ now seems to be trying to out-do him.....

Excellent Ani. Keep shining the light and hopefully MSM will have to air this very newsworthy story.

Mouldy school lunches are of much more national significance than egregious political interference.

Great reporting Ani- well laid out and logically reasoned. Everyone I know avoids the MSM for News but occasionally look at something that interests them.

Great thanks Ani

Others have picked up on my main thoughts.

But I'm intrigued by the little matter of a pile of unused P'n'S vouchers.

Doesn't the Govt audit the taxpayer funding it provides to these organisations???

If MUMA paid P'n'S for the vouchers that were then stuck in a drawer, isn't that an outrageous waste?? Even tho it's not $Bns wasted, every $ counts IMO (when it's taxpayer money).

Bribery vouchers to be saved and used during elections only.... paid for by the NZ Taxpayer.

Dear Ani, Thanks for your brilliant writing. Like you i do believe there is a story here, and its certainly not a complimentary story about Willie Jackson. Yes the Herald, newstalk zb etc should hang their heads in shame!

And yes I hope more work is done looking in the very many maori based organisations that receive considerable tax payer funding and how that money is spent. Some accountability please

One cannot ignore the obvious, a few are profiteering in a very major way from tax payers money - do we think that is acceptable??????

Noel Reid's avatar

Absolutely right Annie.

And I believe the answer, in regard to those with their snouts in the trough, is definitely unacceptable. The scam should be ended asap.

Very well researched and written Ani!

Every piece of yours is a magnum opus Ani (you're only supposed to have one of them ;-)

MSM thankfully becoming more and more irrelevant - we are not at an inflection point, we are past it.

Thank you for giving this very important story some air. I hope you and others dont let it go.

Given its chance to breathe i would find it hard to believe it would not end up with anything other than Jackson losing his job?

Hopefully Santa is listening ...

This latest iteration of MSM's perfidy is, sadly, not surprising. Add this to the silence on the Tamahere "fifedom" and the Otago maori health trust shambles as reported on by Peter Williams, is it any wonder that so many of us look anywhere but the MSM for news. I'm well-educated (MSc honours),well-read, know my whakapapa and, I hope, am relatively intelligent. Yet the MSM continues to assume that I'm not interested in hard news, even when their own polls underline the flight from their offerings. When I consider the reasons for this it's hard not to escape the possibility that it's a concerted, albeit unspoken, conspiracy of our left-leaning media to protect maori in general from any negative publicity, whether it be financial shenanigans, violence or infanticide. Anything that is going to tarnish the myth that the pre-european maori lived in peace and harmony is verboten, but hey, we're not blind, thick or stupid and this continued cover-up is getting leaky around the edges.

Another nail in the coffin for the left-leaning MSM.

Another nail in the coffin for Hipkins' creditability - that coffin is more nails than wood these days.

Another nail in the coffin for elite Māori and their kaupapa, mana and tikanga rhetoric.
