I viewed Waititi’s interview with Tame Jack on TV1.
Unbelievable this rabid racist twice told Tame that there was not a single item in the budget he agreed with.
Because none of the budget items were for Maori !
When reminded that increases in health, education, police etc benefited everyone including Maori Waititi spat back that it should be “ by Maori - for Maori.”
In other words give $100’s Millions to his openly corrupt father-in-law, Tamihere to distribute, after he has taken a 50% cut for overheads - such as paying their family members as administration fees.
This is why it is imperative to not allow these morons ever again to occupy the treasury benches.
Meanwhile, our newly self proclaimed international (w)banker and inveterate liar, Peters spat out, in criticism of Willis regarding superannuation that it was time to run the economy better therefore we don’t have to raise the age of entitlement.
This is the same self serving charlatan, who along with Shane Jones voted in Ardern’s cabinet to destroy our $Billion oil and gas exploration industry.
They never implemented the “ agree to disagree “ policy but concerned for their baubles of office gave our worst prime minister their full backing.
Undoubtedly, the most deplorable case of economic sabotage and treasonous behavior in our history.
How can these two treacherous individuals ever be taken seriously again or trusted with our vote ?
I watched that interview as well shaking my head as he talked. Did he not notice the injection of cash into Maori media to make it more sustainable. Te Pati Maori just don’t get the fact that they are failing some of their people with this continual narrative of victim hood. Fortunately there are Maori who just get on with it using the opportunities available to all.
Well said Judith, & I would suggest that TPM have failed "most" Maori, not just some.
They're very quick to blame the pakeha for the state that Maori find themselves in, which just further stokes the "victim hood" mentality.
In my opinion, all their posturing insinuates that our Tupuna were a pack of dummies for signing Te Tiriti with a whole lot of white colonialists.
The hypocrisy of not wanting "Pakeha" money, & then crying foul when it's not forthcoming, is as blatant as the Waipareira Trust being turned into the Tamihere Family Trust.

Very good John. I very much enjoy Shane Jones’ entertaining oratory, but that’s all NZF have ever really done for us. Lots of hot air, but Winnie cannot be trusted. His act of betrayal in choosing Jabcinda rates up there with Key’s embrace of TMP/TPM when he didn’t even need a coalition partner.

Now the Coalition must face up to the rapidly increasing deindustrialisation of New Zealand brought about by high energy costs and the insanity of Net Zero, and the deterioration in social cohesion.
Thanks Ani, interesting review. Sadly NZ will never escape its slow financial death until we get pull on the big boy pants and do a few things:
1. Trim the public sector. Hugely.
2. Stop feeding the Iwi.
3. Stop the mass immigration madness.
We simply cannot afford to keep paying people who don’t add value. And we cannot afford to give free healthcare to waves of new migrants who aren’t a significant net benefit to our economy. And as for Iwi, they are a massive friction in the economic machine, a cancer sitting in the bloodstream. Other countries can make it work, because they don’t have the massive net drain of the Maori grift.
Budgets are like vacuuming for me - dull but essential - and I tend to walk the dog rather than listen to them being announced. Good to see the coalition pulling together - good that Luxon was not visible - great to see money going into health and education - I’m all for austerity atm - and really we all need to start showing some self responsibility and harden up a bit. Long term gain…hopefully

Yes. I noted that the Opposition, Council of Trade Unions and others already had prepared negative speeches or comments before the budget was properly presented.

What you have outlined are the reasons why a sensible budget had to be presented and a possible strategy to stop New Zealand sliding into third world status. The Adern years of reckless spending is a hard drug to rehabilitate as so many hungry mouths expect more. New Zealanders need to realize that we can't borrow or tax our way out of our current situation and that any resilience we had was wasted post covid. Time to face reality, buckle up and make New Zealand great again.
Changes to superannuation need to be signaled as soon as possible so people can plan accordingly. I am 17 years off superannuation age but I am guessing I won't be receiving government super in this form or it will be means tested. They just need to rip off the plaster and do it because we require certainty with a reasonable lead in time eg at least 10 or 15 years
