Much like the Media Council. Pointless, self-important, and idealogically driven. They get many rulings wrong. I remember one about a NZ Herald article written by me, I think. Took on self-ID and how absurd it was and mentioned 'Priscilla, Queen of the Desert' and all hell broke loose. Jokes are out among the wokes.

Thank you Ani! Another legendary break down of the issues - and thank you for the nudge re making a submission. You’re right - us normies do tend to think (wish / hope?) that sanity will prevail, meanwhile the activist armies flood submissions and skew the conversation. Great reminder that this issue is actually far reaching and worth wading in on.

That the BSA should entertain the complaint based on a trivial throw-away line is inexplicable. Similarly with the fuss over the tikanga mumbo jumbo comment by Sean Plunket. I agree with your analysis of the bigger issue. The contentious background and history of the development of gender ideology trumping biological reality is helpful and illuminating. Thanks for the reminder.

Will we see the BSA gone ere November? Doubtful. Goldsmith speaks but fails to follow through with action. But if it does go what will replace it. Bureaucracy like nature abhors a vacuum.

The merits or otherwise of a complaint such as this should not be influenced by the manner in which it was delivered. Whether a throwaway comment or the headline of a political manifesto, it is the substance of the comments that matters.

In this case, of course, any complaint is frivolous and laughable. As Ani points out, people can dress how they like and call themselves the Grand Pooh Bah for all I care - just don’t expect me to go along with it.

Did anyone actually complain to the BSA though?

I am older than Soper. This is about delusion excluding/ obfuscating reality and untested-in-law opinions being vaunted as vindication for woke virtue signalling by BSA. Doyle is an amorphous cretin who abused his position/ platform as a Green M.P. and would seem to have perverse fetishes. Why Soper gave him 'the time of day' at all is beyond me. Sex is binary. Legal definitions as yet are not written into legislation. Bring on more good sense please NZ First.

PS I have made my submission.

It is uncanny how I agree with 100% of everything Ani O'Brien writes. Anyone else find that?

How about pineapple on pizza? I love it!

Another well thought out and expressed commentary. I have always thought the " non binary" movement was a joke. Something dreamed up by sad loser types who needed something to make them feel special. It also challenges everyone else to shut up or they'll have hurt feelings and will attack and cancel you out. Pathetic small people. Just my opinion.

BSA = Bullshit , Selfserving , Autocrats..

Just another example of the stranglehold critical theory/post-modernism has on the professional managerial class: "The BSA no longer sees itself as merely enforcing broadcasting standards. It has grown to see itself as an arbiter of acceptable opinion, empowered to decide which beliefs about sex and gender, in this case, are legitimate and which are beyond the pale."

Great article. Did you ever receive a reply from Nicola Grigg?

Ani O'Brien has most definitely got both feet on the ground - unlike 'they', 'it', 'ze', 'zir', 'ey' 'em', and all the rest of 'them'...!

How about giving the 4 BSA members, 4 BSA 125cc (125cc so they can depart quietly) motorbikes, to ride off on and look for new challenges?

Or Birmingham Small Arms other product; safety off.

Oooof, I can't believe you besmirched the good name of otters in your analogy.

EDIT: This may be a little off topic. Apologies if it is. I can repost elsewhere if necessary.

Reining in political overreach is paramount to us reclaiming our democracy. We need a reset. I don't really know what that looks like but I stumbled upon a concept by Amy Brookes called The 100 Days. http://www.100days.co.nz/

Apparently it is taken from the Swiss, and has proven to be a way to blunt any non-democratic yearnings by our erstwhile politicians. I'm only just learning of it and plan to read Amy's writing on it on her website. Has anybody else heard of it, or have thoughts on it?

Monty Python would never have eventuated in current times - “that sort of thing isn’t allowed lad, where are your sensitivities?”
