The universities have so much to answer for. They have incubated and spread the evil bacillus of Critical Race Theory throughout the West. I was glad to see the Government reallocate funding for 3rd year students to trades training in the latest Budget. More please.
The ideas originated in universities. Postmodernism, Marxism, Critical Race Theory, Queer Theory etc and then were filtered through the establishment. I’m not saying they themselves went to university necessarily.
Dead right Ani. It all began with Marxism, which was very much alive at Universities in the 1970s, I knew plenty of young socialist members, who were indoctrinated there. They were the youth branch of the communist party. In fact I think it started in the 60s, specifically May 68. I knew some lecturers had been on the student barricades in Paris in May 68. It came very close to another French revolution., though minus the guillotine. Influenced among others Michel Foucault and Jean Baudrillard.
Interesting that only now is the media reporting the sorry tale. Execute the murderer, deport the whole disgusting family and charge the police officers involved with accessories to murder and/or manslaughter because of their appalling negligence. How long before it happens here? Sikhs are also allowed to carry knives in this country and Australia on religious grounds. Heaven forbid if a local did. No religion should have priority over the civil laws of the country. if the law states no weapons carried in public, then it applies to all. Next thing islamists will be demanding the right to behead on religious grounds.
I agree entirely! Sikhs carrying huge lethal weapons is an abomination in NZ. That must be overturned. "When in Rome"... or NZ... do as the locals are required to do!
Ceremony can be changed, it is not set in stone.. Time evolves every cultural practice. Cannibalism has gone. In some cultures it had a spiritual dimension. No knives full stop. Even blunt ones can be weapons. Integrate or leave.
The protests happening now, they have taken the knee requesting the police to do the same, the cops are standing still. England is now boiling over, I am English and very sad for the country I was born in, what an utter disgrace the police time and time again back home two tier policing and racist.
Well said Ani - as usual. If our main stream Journalists showed similar curiosity and skills I might subscribe to Newspapers and look at TV News again.
It’s time to stop treating racism as uniquely evil, as if its worse than any other bigotry (eg ageism, which seems to be absolutely OK with the wokesters (ok Boomer!) in spite of all the victims of elder abuse in this country).
Racism is not worse than any other bigotry and racist words and attitudes are not worse than actual physical violence. The world need not stop in its tracks every time an allegation is made.
It’s also way past time to cancel identitarian based training for plod and everywhere else in the civil service. It’s morally bankrupt and warps and muddles the thinking of earnest, well meaning people, hijacking their empathy especially women, and is easily weaponised by the malevolent.
Exactly! Fairness is better than empathy - it can't be weaponised! Let's get back to treating all people fairly, and giving everyone a good old Kiwi 'fair-go', but not pandering to hurt feelings and criminalising controversial views! What's going on these days is actually knee-jerk, childish spite, not adult behaviour! We need common-sense again, which might then mature into wisdom.
Very good point about the hijacking of empathy, and especially women. It has been a very useful tool of the Marxists, since they began their long march through the institutions in 1967 (almost 60 years ago now!) I am old enough to have observed this whole saga, and seen that women and their natural empathy have been deviously and cynically exploited by every progressive “cause” and movement during the march. Just look at the age-sex breakdown of political polls in NZ and virtually anywhere else. Ardern’s weaponising the mantra of “kindness” is perhaps the most recent, bold and egregious example. Most of us men truly value and cherish women for their empathy and heart, which are necessary to balance the strong analytical, calculating logic of our own natures, which risks becoming ruthless without the feminine dimension.
As an aside, if there is not really any difference between male and female, we are all the same, and we can be whatever we choose, why is there such a marked difference in the age-sex breakdown in political polls, mentioned above? The statistical disparity is far larger and persistent than could occur by chance. Men and women are different: every cell of our bodies carries the distinction and exhibits it in some way, whether it be a gamete, a brain cell or a skin cell.
It comes down to typically female psychology and preferences. Society and culture needs a balance of masculine and feminine traits across key domains (whilst also accommodating the fact that there are some domains that will skew more to one or the other). With regard to what’s going on with women at the moment, and weaponised kindness it’s also worth noting that many of women and some men are indeed weaponising the idea, and they are not really kind at all, they are sociopaths looking to get ahead in the “empathy economy”.
What’s needed is for men, and women who are not “kindsters” to reassert masculine-coded traits and values, reject applied progressivism and social engineering, reject totalising philosophies and utopian cults of all stripes and reject the infantilising of adults. This might mean a bit less “cherishing” of typically feminine-coded soft heartedness.
Ani, you make some excellent points, as always, however I'd like to suggest that you may have overlooked one aspect of collective guilt.
You posit that collective guilt has been abandoned by civilised society and is essentially a thing of the past. While I agree that this appears to be the case for the examples you mention, it is not universally true. German speaking people like myself can tell you that a certain event before WW2 is very much kept alive by way of fostering the collective guilt of an entire population, regardless of the fact that barely any of them were even alive when it occurred, let alone want to be associated with it.
This collective guilt is fostered both from within (e.g. Nobel price winning author Günther Grass who made it his mission to 'keep the wound open', and obsessively promotes German guilt), and also externally.
It sometimes rears its ugly head when you least expect it. I know from first hand experience.
One particularly hurtful example involved my then 6-year old son. He came home from school evidently upset and asked me "Mum, what is a Nazi?" I was flabbergasted and asked why he wanted to know. He said that some kids at school were mean to him and kept calleling him a Nazi.
There aren't many dots to join in imagining how those 6-year olds knew the term and how come they associated it with my son.
It's very ugly and it's very real. No doubt about it.
Believe me, this variant of ollective guilt is very much alive and thriving!
Very good Ani, very good indeed. The ‘collective guilt’ imposed on white folk succeeded because of two key reasons. 1. Our leaders are weak & fickle. Their cowardice played into the hands of the race-activists who are simply doing this for their own gain. And 2. People’s bizarre willingness to be manipulated and ignore the truth.
Which is, most folk are decent, not racist, and Britain & the West have done more to empower the oppressed than anyone else in history. Two-tier Keir has struck again. This was a very good piece by you.
True! You could claim British colonisers had racist attitudes, back in the day, but all in all Britain was a force for good. I wonder where the cannibalistic, war-obsessed Maori race would be now if the British Government had not stepped in in 1840? Probably would have annihilated themselves with the white man's muskets, that they took to so avidly to slaughter each other for utu. (Oh boy! Now I'll be labeled a racist!)
Yes, Ani, I too am British born, but luckily not British bred.
I am so horrified how my home country has disintegrated into such a cesspit of racial and gender madness! At least the gender one has been helped by the landmark ruling on sex being the defining human characteristic, not gender. But the woke idealogues still hold-out.
This racist inversion, however, where 'white people' ie indigenous Brits, are now the baddies and immigrants of colour are beyond criticism, is such a perversion that I find it incredible, totally alien!
But the way racial politics are being stoked here by Maori activists, it could happen here! We must be on our guard before it's too late!
At least we can wave our NZ flag without being arrested as they are in Britain for displaying their patriotic flags - the Union flag for the UK and the cross of St George for England.
When I last lived in Devon (from 2004 to 2006) there was none of this horror. When the England soccer team was playing every second car on the roads proudly carried the cross of St George!
There was one black man in all of Devon and he was a famous farmer, very looked up to. In our village there was one Chinese family and one Indian family - with takeaway food restaurants - and the dentist I went to was Middle-Eastern. Still much like the England I knew in the 60s.
What has happened in the last 20 years is a colossal disaster! What happened?
Is it mass immigration? Is it the mad racial theories, DEI, or woke propaganda?
Whatever it is, it has gone too far and must be stopped!
The way poor Henry was treated by those woke police, was not 'inhumane', it was INHUMAN!!!
What happened Donna is that weak leaders chose votes over principles. We were stopped from celebrating and defending our great culture. And gullible policy opened the doors to cultures incompatible with the host culture. Enoch Powell was right. When I see the likes of Starmer & Albanese (& even Luxflakes), I am truly sickened by their failure to stand up for traditional principles & our way of life. Until we rediscover the wonders of our Judeo Christian Westminster democracy, and are willing to assert it as ‘superior’, then nothing will change.
Yes Boris, while superficially what Luxflakes said about supporting the Indian community here as hard workers etc can't be denied, it is of concern that he has never (to my knowledge) said anything similar about Kiwis, nor acknowledged the wonders of our Judeo Christian Westminster democracy and the things necessary to protect that....
I bet if Henry Nowak had been black they would have been rioting and burning down the cities in the UK but as he was white it's ho hum. Real double standards here.
A reminder too perhaps that the trans movement has a hold on our institutions to such a degree that they can torment someone via the NZ Police.
And why do you/we not have a choice about having an interest in American politics? Sincere question. I mean I do, and you do but.... from what I see on the day to day is a bunch of NZers who think they know about the U.S. but have zero depth on it in truth. Usually, it's just leading up to loud hating on Trump for reasons they don't even grasp.
I have a bit of a laugh within my 'ladies who lunch' circle, when they get on the TDS bandwagon, that I would've voted for Trump over Harris in a heartbeat. On reflection those who enjoy hating on America have been around all my adult life in one form or another, but it's on steroids right now.
Thanks Ani. I needed this. You have expressed the seething anger I feel a need to vent. Like you, I was once a gullible university student who embraced white guilt and felt Maori could never be racist. This was knocked out of me when I attended Whina Cooper's land march in 1975. A middle aged Maori chap, bristling with hatred, approached me and shouted, "Fuck off pakeha."
Justice and the law needs to be colourblind - as all our people would ideally be. Our government fails to understand this - it allows an ideology in education that tells makes our young carry the burden of " white priviledge " and makes future taxpayers carry the cost of the perceived wrongs from the past ( in addition to paying for the superannuation benefits and healthcare of the previous generation).
The universities have so much to answer for. They have incubated and spread the evil bacillus of Critical Race Theory throughout the West. I was glad to see the Government reallocate funding for 3rd year students to trades training in the latest Budget. More please.
These cops weren’t brainwashed at university. The entire political establishment is globalist.
The ideas originated in universities. Postmodernism, Marxism, Critical Race Theory, Queer Theory etc and then were filtered through the establishment. I’m not saying they themselves went to university necessarily.

Thanks for sharing, that is very good.
Anti - white racism , something we see more and more every day in New Zealand 🇳🇿.

I fully agree with you. The knife is carried for ceramonial purposes, so make a blunt replica.
Ceremony can be changed, it is not set in stone.. Time evolves every cultural practice. Cannibalism has gone. In some cultures it had a spiritual dimension. No knives full stop. Even blunt ones can be weapons. Integrate or leave.
Or wear a necklace with a 1cm ‘knife’ on it. The way Christians wear a cross, they can wear a little symbol. Or gtfo.
The protests happening now, they have taken the knee requesting the police to do the same, the cops are standing still. England is now boiling over, I am English and very sad for the country I was born in, what an utter disgrace the police time and time again back home two tier policing and racist.
Yes, you obviously feel as sick as I do about our old country's descent into Hell! I could cry!!!
It’s basically stuffed, changed forever!
Well said Ani - as usual. If our main stream Journalists showed similar curiosity and skills I might subscribe to Newspapers and look at TV News again.

Racism is part of the Human condition, regardless of race, like many of our species many faults.

Sikh men should have their knives removed from them everywhere. Even in India if they have the gonads.
Thanks Ani.
I recommend Coleman Hughes book”The End of Race Politics “
He describes those who promote things like affirmative action as neoracists.
Discrimination is discrimination no matter what colour.
We have a plentiful supply of neoracists in New Zealand.
Coleman is great! Haven't read that book but I have seen him on quite a few podcasts :)
This is a great analysis of the sad situation. I'm in awe of your academic and structured yet flowing writing, Ani.

Yes, the statue of Justice with her scales is blind to avoid bias. The scales are for balance = fairness. Let's remember that.
